We can design a solution, develop a services and growth plan, or provide you with the right tools for Business Continuity, Server/Storage Virtualization, Virtual Connects, Network Management, etc. Converged Infrastructure can become a reality for you and your customers. As your Storage Solutions Specialist, I can marshal a number of resources to help you build your business. Many of you participated in our 3Par Deep-Dive Road Show for solution architects. You learned how this exciting new addition to the HP Storage portfolio changes the game for your customers with an efficient, autonomic, multi-tenant platform. Others took advantage of our sponsorship for the combined “Implementing P4000” and “Implementing HP Networking” series. We also assisted our partners with end-user demand generation events to drive home the importance of HP storage in a converged infrastructure strategy. If your customers know how important their data is to their organization, and want to discover ways to use that data to grow their business, SYNNEX can provide you with a funded storage assessment for your qualified opportunities. Take advantage of our ability to not only provide solution configuration assistance, but also to perform demonstrations of key HP storage technologies. Watch for upcoming offerings to learn more about HP’s StoreOnce technology in the fast-growing D2D market. Customers face many new challenges when it comes to managing their information. Many new obstacles face customers who are trying to deal with managing their data, which are exacerbated by explosive growth in content and server virtualization. HP’s history of leadership with storage Virtual Resource Pools is a fundamental enabler of the HP Converged Infrastructure strategy. • Massive amounts of information exist in direct attached storage in their environments. According to IDC market data, over 40% of the storage sold over the past year is still sold as DAS($11.2B of $26.9B in four quarters ending CQ209). • As customers deploy virtualization, they find that they can’t utilize the internal storage in their servers for the advanced features of virtualization, such as high availability, resource balancing, and virtual machine movement. In 2009, over 20% of deployed servers are running virtualization (Forrester). With 600GB SAS disks around the corner, customers have a lot of internal capacity that cannot be used for virtualization. • Likewise, given the requirements of virtualization for shared SAN/NAS storage, traditional storage architectures fall short when it comes to matching the benefits of server virtualization for consolidation, flexibility and performance. Having storage that can keep up is essential to addressing the new storage requirements for virtualization. • In 2009, unstructured file content eclipsed traditional structured data shipments for TBs shipped (IDC). By 2012, it is predicted that file-based content will be over 3X that of block-based content. This data explosion demands that customers find new ways of managing and dealing with information. So, how do customers deal with all this data when it comes to backing it up? New strategies are needed to address the huge amount of content that must be retained due to regulatory compliance. Customers are now faced with a new phenomenon in which data is accessed frequently right after it is created, and then has to be kept forever. The promise of “The Cloud” for IT is that customers will be able to more efficiently tie their application SLAs to the underlying infrastructure. Simplifying the provisioning of IT resources, including storage, to meet application needs for the business is critical for customers to be able to do more with the capital and operating resources they have. Obviously, storage is a key component of the Converged Infrastructure. The HP StorageWorks vision is to deliver storage into the Converged Infrastructure by aligning to four major focus areas: • Storage and Server Convergence: The days of specialized, purpose-built storage devices are over. Storage and Server technologies have converged based on x86 architectures to deliver more storage capacity and performance on industry-standard components. • Storage Virtualization: Utilizing a highly-virtualized storage architecture affords the customer greater flexibility when it comes to meeting the business demands of their applications. For example, being able to scale your storage performance and capacity online is the key to delivering more flexible applications. • Capacity and Power Optimization: Customers are demanding that they be able to do more with the technology assets that they have. Storage is no different. Incorporating features like thin provisioning and de-duplication are ways to deliver more storage for less money. • Application Integration: Applications running on a converged infrastructure are of primary importance to customers. Storage for those applications must be integrated into the storage management aspects of those applications. The value of storage in a Converged Infrastructure to a customer is that we can transform the economics of information: • Unified: A single system repository for multiple data types, at multiple stages of its life • Scale-Out: Ability to independently grow capacity, performance, and information management services • Industry Standard: Utilizing economic strengths of volume to build storage servers and data services To learn more about HP Enterprise Storage and how SYNNEX can help you transform your customers’ data centers to become more agile, contact Joe Matthews at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots.
